The RGF supports a water sports activity as an alternative to gambling
For the 11th consecutive year the Saint Paul’s churchyard in Rabat, Malta, witnessed an energetic water gaming sports activity which carries the name “Games for Everyone/Logħob għal Kulħadd’’. An activity which is divided over a week that sees teams of children and young adults enjoying a summerly competitive atmosphere. All this thanks to a strong young youth committee called Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini, with the participation of the Responsible Gaming Foundation and the Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation in the Prime Minister’s Office. The Parliamentary Secretary Honorable Silvio Schembri attended for this activity stating clearly that he was very impressed with the strong enthusiasm and organization showed for such an event dedicated to children and young adults. Hon. Schembri said that such activities challenge our young ones physically and hence manage to stay away from addictions such as gambling. As he thanked the young group committee Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini and the Responsible Gaming Foundation, the Parliamentary Secretary ended his speech by saying that ‘’everyone should be at the forefront to encourage activism and invaluable volunteering in local localities such as this’’. The General Manager of the Responsible Gaming Foundation (RGF) Ms. Priscilla talked about the importance of awareness about responsible gaming and also made reference to the Education Campaign among fourth year primary students, where RGF staff visit schools around Malta and Gozo alongside their mascot ‘’Chippy’’, to describe and discuss the problem of compulsive gambling from the early ages. ‘’Gambling is an addiction which carries with it negative consequences’’. Ms Muscat also referred to the RGF freephone service 1777, where people suffering from addiction or relatives of such persons can call anonymously and find all the appropriate assistance from the trained staff of the foundation. The Chairman of the Youth Committee Żgħażagħ Rabtin Pawlini Henry Debattista, Vice Chairman Adriano Farrugia and Secretary Norbert Inguanez thanked all those who participated in their utmost for these events. They give their respective thanks to the registered teams of players and members from the audience who always came in numbers and gave a healthy cheering applause to all those involved in these sports games.
